What is Ki Gong?
Ki Gong is a holistic system of coordinated body postures, movement, breathing and meditation. These techniques are used for health, spirituality and martial arts training. Originating in Chinese medicine, Ki Gong is practiced to cultivate and balance Ki energy. Ki energy is your own inner energy, or “life force” energy. When there are blockages or imbalances in the flow of your Ki, or inner energy, it negatively effects your health and well being.
Ki Gong has two basic paths, both have great benefits, but differ in areas focus, intention, and methodology.
Personal: This is a journey of self-improvement through the use of movement, breath, and intention. This involves the more well known Ki Gong martial art aspects of moving and breath work. There is also meditation and some acupressure application.
Medical/Clinical: Ki Gong Professionals, using their training and self-cultivation are able to effectively use Ki transmission, acupressure, and teach Ki Gong exercises and/or meditations based upon a variety of diagnostic and assessment systems to restore health and wellness.
The Origin of Ki Gong
Ki gong treatment is an extension of Chinese medicine that is over 5000 years old. The origin of qigong is commonly attributed to the legendary Yellow Emperor (2696–2598 BC) and the classic Huangdi Neijing book of internal medicine. It is also referred to by Confucious to the apply the concepts of qi training as methods of moral training. And it’s also mentioned as a way of inner cultivation in the writings of Lao Tzu, who founded Taoism. Later, when Buddhism was introduced from India, its system of meditation and physical cultivation was eventually modified and assimilated into Ki gong practice. The result was the more modern known Chinese Buddhist Ki Gong.
Grandmaster Kim
Grandmaster Kim is one of the few practitioners in the world trained in this unique form of healing. His instructor, Grandmaster Seok Seo Park, learned it from living and studying with Buddhist monks in the few remote monasteries in Korea and China where it is still practiced.
What is a Ki Gong treatment Like?
Treatment is vigorous, including stretching, exercises, and acupressure along affected meridians after diagnosis. Treatment is different for each person and is specific to what is needed. Sometimes multiple sessions are required for optimum health and recovery from injury or illness.
Practicing breathing techniques and exercises for practice outside of treatment is part of the healing process. A natural plant based diet is encouraged, with limited consumption of meat, sugar, fried food, and alcohol.
